CRCSI Health Demonstrator project

Project Summary

The Health Demonstrator is designed to bring together health, environmental and spatial scientists to demonstrate how the significant progress in spatial information and technologies is used to its full potential to improve the health of all Australians and to best inform policy formation at local, state and federal levels.

To be delivered by March 2009, the project team will provide valuable connections to existing nation-wide health programs and establish a seven year health research and development theme for the new CRCSI.

Outcomes

The project objectives is to:

  1. Develop a spatial web-application “Spatial Health Intelligence Platform”;
  2. Establish a working network of partners in each state across Australia; and
  3. Develop a user driver research portfolio for the health theme in CRCSI 09-16.

Collaborators

The Health Demonstrator comprises of four organisations from Australia from the government and research sectors. This includes:

  • CRCSI
  • Department of Health, Western Australia
  • Data Linkage Australia (led by Curtin University)
  • Landgate, Western Australia

This consortium is dedicated to delivering the project solutions and will work closely with other health agencies and universities across Australia to ensure that the long-term research program is revelant to national health issues.

The health demonstrator program manager is Professor James Semmens and project leader is Narelle Mullan.
