August 26th, 2009

Dear CRCSI-2 Colleagues

Since our news of success a fortnight ago we have received, and accepted, the Commonwealth Program’s terms and conditions of our CRCSI-2 funding. We are still negotiating some of the finer details.

Broadly this means we have the following tasks ahead of us in the coming few months:

TASK 1 -   Bring CRCSI-1 to an end by 31 December 2009

  • Terminate the current CRCSI-1 Commonwealth contract and arrange for projects to wind up or transfer through to CRCSI-2
  • Wind up 43pl-1
  • Wind up SISL-1

TASK 2 -   Start the new CRCSI-2 effective 1 January 2010

  • Sign the CRCSI-2 Commonwealth Agreement
  • Sign the CRCSI-2 Participants’ Agreement (each Essential participant to sign this, including 43pl-2)
  • Create 43pl-2
  • Create SISL-2

TASK 3 -   Operations: i n parallel with these strategic and legal processes we will

  • Put governance structures in place in consultation with Essential Participants through the CRCSI-2 Steering Committee [Mary O'Kane (Chair CRCSI-1), Warwick Watkins (Chair of ANZLIC representing all government partners), Mark Judd (Chair of 43pl), Graeme Wright (representing universities and research agency partners), Bruce Thompson (Deputy Chair CRCSI-1 and representing CRCSI-1) and Peter Woodgate (Bid Leader)]
  • Establish protocols of communication amongst all the stakeholder colleges - each college will be dealt with individually
  • Establish protocols for the development and approval of new project proposals

We will update you on progress through regular communiqués and through the www.crcsi2.com.au website.

In particular we will be providing in the near future more detail on the timing of the next steps within the above tasks, and providing drafts of relevant documents as soon as possible.

In the meantime feel free to contact us at any time.

Mike
